Honor Pride Duty

I count it a great privilege to live in a country that allows me the freedom to be me. That privilege was bought at a great cost, and I hope I never forget the honor due those who paid for it with their lives.

This country allows us to be different, and even though our beliefs and convictions may not always be the popular one, people died to guarantee us the right to express them. Our country is founded on the basic rights and freedoms of the individual.

We as the privileged and free, need to remember that freedom was bought by others who were willing to lay their lives on the line, and to serve their country with honor and pride.

This freedom you take for granted, could one day be gone, if there is no one willing to stand in your place, and fight for it. You may protest to your hearts content, this war with Iraq, but are you willing to live there under Sadaam Husseins regime? Are you willing to subject your mother, sister, children to his tyranny?

You only want the privileges earned by others who stood in your place, but do not have the honor to do your duty to your country. If you are unwilling to stand in the gap, at least have the dignity to honor those who do. After all, it could be your freedom that is up for grabs to a bully no one is willing to stand up to, in order to help those unable to help themselves.
