"John Brockman enlisted from Caswell Co., North Carolina and in adjoining county of Guilford, North Carolina...John Brockman was rather an old man to have served actively unless as an officer, but that he acted as an officer in the Revolution." 

In Raleigh, North Carolina in the Archives:  "John Brockman...for sundries furnished and cash paid the Militia of North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina, as allowed by the Auditor of Hillsboro District in December 1781, as per report No. 81, the following entry:  1400 John Brockman 2500...Currency."
