Interior Paint Calculator

Terminology

The following are definitions that apply to this calculator only. Please refer to the Terminology sections of the individual calculators that you are using to ensure correct material outputs.

  1. Special Note: Be aware of the quantities that are being calculated for you. Paint is calculated by the gallon. Unless you plan to paint your ceiling and walls the same color it is best to rely on the quantities that are calculated in the individual sections. Ceiling and Wall totals are listed at the bottom.
  2. Height - The distance as measured from the floor to the ceiling.
  3. Length - The distance as measured from corner to corner on the longest side of the room.
  4. Width - The distance as measured from corner to corner on the shortest side of the room.
  5. Openings - Measure the windows and doors in the room. Always measure from the inside of the molding to the inside of the molding. Multiply the height by the width. Enter the total value in the section marked 'Openings'. This will be deducted from the total square footage prior to calculating your figures.
